You can install Doc Variables directly from the Google Workspace Marketplace. Go to any Google Doc or Slide, click Extensions → Add-ons → Get add-ons, and search for 'Doc Variables'. Or visit the marketplace directly and click Install.
The free version allows up to 20 uses. Pro (Individual, Team, or Enterprise) gives you unlimited uses, advanced features like doc merge from Google Sheets, and no delay when processing variables.
Use the syntax ${Variable Name} anywhere in your document. When you run Doc Variables, it will generate a form field for each unique variable. You can also add types like ${Date::date} or ${Options::options::Yes, No, Maybe}.
Yes! If you use ${Client Name} in multiple places, Doc Variables will recognize it as a single variable and replace all instances with the same value.
With a Pro subscription, you can connect a Google Sheet to your template. Each row in the sheet creates a new document with the values from that row. Great for generating multiple contracts, invoices, or reports at once.
If you're logged into multiple Google accounts in the same browser, the add-on may not load correctly. Try logging out of all accounts except the one you used to install Doc Variables, or use an incognito window.
You can manage your subscription through the Customer Portal. Log in with the email you used to subscribe and you'll be able to cancel or modify your plan.
No. Doc Variables processes your documents in real-time but does not store any document content. We only store your Google account ID, usage count, and subscription information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
