Privacy Policy

About

Doc Variables is a templating add-on for Google Docs and Google Slides that:

  • Connects to your Google Drive to update and create new Google Slides, Google Docs, and Google Sheets documents
  • Reads data from your Google Sheets to merge with Google Slides and Google Docs content
  • Connects to an external service to validate your subscription status

This add-on is tightly integrated to your Google account and the data stored in the said account. When installing the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace, you will be prompted to authorize different accesses to your Google account. Those authorizations will only be used to perform the service you are requesting from the add-on you have installed.

To remove the add-on access to your Google account, you must uninstall the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace. Add-ons are created and powered by Google Apps Script, on Google servers.

Information gathered by Doc Variables will never be sold or shared to external people. When we need to store data outside of your Google account, we use Firebase, a serverless database developed by Google, so your data never leaves Google servers. We only store in Firebase data which is absolutely needed to provide our users the service offered by this add-on. All document data (content) processed by the add-on is not stored in Firebase or on any other data storage system.

Our App's use of information received, and App's transfer of information to any other app received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API User Data Policy, including the Limited Use Requirements.

Data Storage

Data we store:

  • Your Google account id, to identify you as a Doc Variables user
  • Your usage data, specifically, the numbers of times you have used Doc Variables
  • Your subscription information: Stripe payment identifier, domain or email address for verification.

Data we do NOT store:

  • Document Data (content). This includes: titles, content, images, or metadata related to a Google app document (doc, sheet, slide, etc).
  • Personal Identifying Information (PII) of any contacts, shared accounts, or information not specifically related to identifying the current user of the Add-on

Retention time: We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. What data we store, we'll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.

We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties.

Payment Processing

All subscriptions payments are processed through the third party Stripe or PayPal payment processing systems. Credit card information and storage are not accessible to the Doc Variable application. Payment profiles are accessed by a token system which provides a reference to a user's information with no direct access to that data.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is subject to occasional revision, and we reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy relating to Doc Variables at any time, effective upon posting of an updated version of this Privacy Policy.
